Larkyn turned 3 months old on June 13th! We can't believe how fast the time has gone! She has grown so much physically, as well as socially. The third month has been filled with many exciting new adventures, but has also brought about some challenges! One major skill Larkyn mastered right around 3 months old was rolling over from back to tummy. At one point in time when we put her on her back she would roll over within seconds to her belly. Now, end of June/early July (I'm a little behind on blogging:)), she doesn't seem quite as interested in it. However, she still loves to sleep on her tummy and pull her knees up under her bottom. She loves to scootch and move up and down her crib as well.
Speaking of sleeping, Larkyn is starting to settle into more of a sleep, eat, play schedule. More times than not anyway! She is waking up somewhere between 7:30 and 8:30 most mornings. It is so fun to get her from her crib because her head pops up at the sound of our voice and when she sees our faces she begins to kick and squirm with excitement. After Larkyn is up, she eats and plays (on the floor, in her exersaucers, swing, etc). Then she usually will take a nap an hour and a half to two hours after waking up. This nap is typically 30 to 45 min on the dot! Sometimes it is in her crib, but other times it is on the go in the jogging stroller or in the car running errands. She will eat again between 11 and 11:45, stay up and play (sometimes watch Young and the Restless with mom:)) Then Larkyn will go down for her afternoon nap between 12:15 and 12:45, which usually lasts up to 3 hours! If I don't time it right and miss that window she will often just take a 30 minute "cat nap" and be up again for some time. After the afternoon feeding and playing, she will take another 30 minute nap early evening. We give her a bath between 7 and 8 (every other night), feed her one more time and put her to bed usually between 8:30 and 9:00. Then we start all over the next morning! And yes, you calculated right...Larkyn is sleeping anywhere between 10 and 12 hours through the night. And yes, we are counting our blessings:)
Other than rolling over and sleeping really well, Larkyn continues to smile and coo. She has developed a new spitting game and loves to blow bubbles! Larkyn also loves to play peek-a-boo and will sometimes put a burp cloth over her face and pull it down to initiate play:) Along with peek-a-boo comes her giggle and laugh that just melts our hearts!
One challenge we have faced the past couple of weeks has been bottle feeding. Larkyn took the bottle pretty well for the two weeks I went back to work, but since I've been home and mostly breastfeeding she is having a harder time taking it. We are trying to give her more opportunities to take a bottle so she is able to take one when starting at Tracey's at the end of August, as well as when others watch her throughout the summer.
The outfit Larkyn is wearing is from my aunt Michelle and uncle Brian.
